Beyond our pro bono legal work, our lawyers are personally involved in the success and quality of life in our communities. Civic and not-for-profit involvement are hallmarks of our firm and appreciated by the over 1,000 community and charitable organizations in which our lawyers participate.

For example, in addition to providing paid parental leave, the firm has put into place an Alternative Work Schedule Policy that clarifies how and when our associates may work on a less than full-time basis while continuing to progress toward partnership. Lawyers working on less than a full-time basis are still eligible to receive bonuses and other recognition for their hard work and performance. Amenities such as on-site chair massage may sound like perks, but they are appreciated by lawyers and staff who balance busy lives with their work in meeting our clients' needs. Our Health Enhancement Program, discussed below, is another indication of our firm's commitment to the well-being of both our attorneys and staff.

 

HEALTH ENHANCEMENT:

Our Health Enhancement Program, established in 1996, is unique among law firms. Its mission is to promote the wellness of the firm's partners, associates, and staff.

Two Health Enhancement Coordinators are available for personal and confidential counseling on nutrition planning, weight management, smoking cessation, exercise, stress management, and other health issues. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) benefits and services are also available. The firm provides classes on nutrition, stress management, and exercise; offers free, confidential health risk assessments; and makes available free, on-site flu shots and clinical screenings. Blackwell Sanders provides subsidies for smoking cessation and also for health club membership to encourage our lawyers and staff to remain healthy and fit.
